With excellent food and two beautiful swimming pools, yet still small enough to remain personal, we think the Oberoi is the Ultimate Honeymoon hotel in Mauritius. The Oberoi staff appear to be able to read your mind – just as you are beginning to get uncomfortably hot by the pool a waiter will suddenly arrive with a cool towel and a chilled drink. Whatever the room type the bedrooms are wonderfully elegant and we loved the sunken marble baths and showers which overlook a beautiful and exotic private garden. Indeed Jasmine petals, a bath pillow and plenty of Crabtree & Evelyn goodies make bath time a delight. But it is well worth upgrading to a pool villa to be able to relax in your own aquatic paradise, set in a private walled garden. If you can’t spoil yourself on honeymoon, when can you? Aside from sunbathing by the pool or lazing on the beach there is plenty to keep you occupied. The delightful Spa is very addictive, a must have is the couple’s massage which takes place in an open-air Sala. For the more active, there are plenty of complimentary water sports as well as lovely tennis courts. If you are looking for something slightly different you should take a day at the races. It is great fun, especially the VIP box; top hats are not required but a flair for betting possibly is. GETTING THERE:

The Oberoi is on the north west coast of the island, a one hour drive from the airport, or take a scenic helicopter flight and arrive in style.

There are 73 rooms in total, comprising of 48 Luxury Pavilions, 23 Luxury Villas (16 of which have a private pool) and two Royal Villas.
